Update on Newton MP2x00 Battery Tray
Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 7:19AMI apologize for not finishing the battery tray yet, but there have been a series of setbacks.
Firstly, my computer’s hard drive crashed. This hasn’t directly affected development; it has, however, been the cause for me to banish Windows from my laptop forever. Without Windows, I can’t run Autodesk Inventor, and without Inventor, the models can’t be edited. In the mean time, I’m working on getting Inventor running under WINE. This could prove pointless, though, because the license for Inventor is tied to a single computer (AFAIK, the same operating system, too). I’m not sure if the same license key will work under OS X. But development hope is not lost!
While I was developing the CAD models, I tracked versions using Git. Earlier this morning, all the project files were uploaded to GitHub, viewable here.
Secondly, I just haven’t had much time to work on it. I’m trying to initialize a startup company, which has taken priority. In addition, more of my resources are allocated to it (especially money) so I am unable to test my design work (frequently) via rapid prototyping.
Hopefully, this project will survive in one form or another. For the moment, however, development is suspended.
